Test the chemical contents of pool water every day (chlorine 3 to 4 ppm) (pH 7.2 to 7.8) (total alkalinity 80 to 120 ppm)

Add soda ash as needed (if pH is low) (broadcast on top of pool surface)

Add bicarbonate as needed (for low total alkalinity)

Check skimmer basket every day

Check Polaris bag every other day

Add chlorine tablets to skimmer every third day

Add algaecide every 14 days

Add clarifier every 14 days(dilute in a bucket of pool water and pour around edge of pool)

Add shock treatment every 14 days (3 to 4 lb. calcium hypo chlorite)(dilute in a bucket of pool water and pour around edge of pool)

Backwash filter when pressure goes up 3 to 5 psi.

Check filter pump basket & Polaris hose screen every 14 days

Backwash procedure:

  1. Turn off Polaris pump (if back washing during Polaris cycle)
  2. Turn off filter pump
  3. Move filter valve to backwash
  4. Turn filter pump on for 1 to 2 minutes (or until sight glass goes clear)
  5. Turn filter pump off
  6. Move filter valve to the rinse position
  7. Turn filter pump on for 30 seconds
  8. Turn filter pump off
  9. Move filter valve to filter position
  10. Turn filter pump on
  11. Turn Polaris pump on (if back washing during Polaris cycle)

Check water level every day, add if low, backwash or use WASTE on the filter valve to lower water to proper level. Water level in pool should be kept between half way on skimmer opening at the low point to 1” from top of skimmer opening at the high point .
